Castello di Rivoli Education Department Selected for Melbourne Arts Learning Festival

The Castello di Rivoli's Education Department, led by Anna Pironti, has been selected as the sole Italian museum partner for the first Arts Learning Festival in Melbourne, Australia, from May 3 to 7, 2017. Organized by ISV Independent Schools Victoria, the festival involves over two thousand schools in Victoria. The department will present best practices including projects like Abi-tanti, Tappeto Volante, and a stage of Michelangelo Pistoletto's Terzo Paradiso at the Immigration Museum. The selection followed a site visit by ISV staff to the Castello di Rivoli during Il Cantiere dell'Arte project at Sant'Anna Hospital in Turin. The department's work has also been included in research by Project Zero at Harvard Graduate School of Education, directed by Howard Gardner. Pironti emphasizes the importance of horizontal museum education over vertical exhibition-focused models, citing ZonArte network in Piedmont and MAMbo in Bologna as positive examples. The department, founded in 1984 as a school office, now includes a multidisciplinary team of 'artenaute' and focuses on lifelong learning and accessibility.
