institutional · 2026-04-27

Since 2014, Laura Barreca has been at the helm of the Museo Civico di Castelbuono, which serves as a contemporary art hub for the community in Southern Italy. Situated within the Castello di Ventimiglia, the museum prioritizes public funding and community involvement. It has partnered with Kunst Meran and StadtMuseum Düsseldorf. Notable projects include a pandemic garden created with Il Cinghiale e la Balena and a Summer School for teens set to begin in summer 2023, with accessibility upgrades supported by PNRR. Future highlights feature Beatrice Gibson's film "Dreaming Alcestis," debuting on April 23, 2023, and Concetta Modica's "La notte di Sant'Anna," launching on May 4, 2023. Additionally, the museum has acquired 30 photographs by Carmelo Minnella through Strategia Fotografia 2022.
