Casoncelli become candy at Brescia Design Festival

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The Brescia Design Festival, running until May 21, features an installation by Mani in Pasta and Ladylike Knit Design that reimagines casoncelli as bonbons. The project, led by Italian architects Elisa Sartor and Valentina Toscano based at FabLab in Lisbon, transforms traditional Lombard stuffed pasta into a candy-like form called 'casoncandy'. The duo's food design approach updates Italian culinary heritage, including grandmothers' recipes, into contemporary objects. They have also created 'al dente fashion' accessories printed with Italian food words, previously sold at Fabrica Features in Portugal. Next, they plan to explore the tablecloth as a cultural texture. The festival activates vacant shop windows in Brescia's city center with works by independent designers.
