Casino Ludovisi extends extraordinary openings for Guercino fresco

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

Due to increased interest, the Casino di Villa Ludovisi in Rome, which showcases Guercino's fresco 'Aurora' (1621-22), will expand its public hours. Visitors can explore the venue from December 26 to 29, 2024, and January 2 to 6, 2025, through 30-minute guided tours. This decision comes after a prolonged closure and an unsuccessful auction, aligning with the exhibition 'Guercino. L'era Ludovisi a Roma' at both the Casino and Scuderie del Quirinale, which will be available until January 26, 2025. The Casino also displays works by Caravaggio, including his sole wall painting, as well as pieces by Paul Brill and Domenichino, aiming to inspire future visits to see Guercino's 'Fama' and Caravaggio's art.
