Casina del Salvi reopens with free study room and café overlooking Colosseum

Rome's Casina del Salvi, a neoclassical pavilion in the Parco Archeologico del Celio, has reopened after restoration. The building, designed by architect Gaspare Salvi in 1835 for Pope Gregory XVI as a coffee house along the archaeological promenade, now features a café on the ground floor and a free study room with 40 workstations on the first floor, open daily from 9am to 7pm. The restoration is part of the broader CArMe project led by Walter Tocci, funded with €5 million from Jubilee and PNRR funds. The park itself, which opened in early 2024, displays Roman stone materials and houses the Museo della Forma Urbis.
