Casale dei Cedrati in Rome's Villa Pamphilj reopens with artist residencies

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

After a seven-year closure due to a legal dispute over unspecified building violations, the Casale dei Cedrati in Rome's Villa Pamphilj park reopens on November 19, 2023. The historic 17th-century stable, restored by a consortium led by Francesco Cochetti, originally opened in late 2015 but was shuttered shortly after. The consortium, which won a 2013 municipal tender for the concession and restoration, had its errors acknowledged in 2017. The reopening features an inaugural exhibition, GREENIT, showcasing landscape photographs by Simone Cametti, curated by Lori Adragna. The space will host artist residencies, exhibitions, site-specific interventions, a café, and a bookstore. Mayor Roberto Gualtieri and environmental councilor Sabrina Alfonsi will attend the inauguration. Activities include jazz music, theater, science talks, nordic walking, and composting lessons. The consortium commits to maintaining the surrounding green areas.
