Casa Wabi and ArtReview Launch Ninth Annual Residency Prize
Fundación Casa Wabi and ArtReview have announced the ninth annual open-call residency prize for three artists or collectives, running from 2026 to 2027. The residency takes place at Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico, a non-profit founded in 2014 by Mexican artist Bosco Sodi. The facility, designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, sits between mountains and sea, 30 minutes from the airport. It includes bungalows, studios, and a 450m² exhibition space within a 65-acre garden by Alberto Kalach, featuring pavilions by Alvaro Siza, Kengo Kuma, and Bernardo Quinzaños Oria, and artworks by Ugo Rondinone and Huma Bhabha. The prize covers a local flight from Mexico City, lodging, studio space, meals, and community project support. Applications are open to all artists regardless of background; collaborative pairs may apply. The deadline is 14 June 2026. Winners will be notified by 27 July and announced on 31 July. Past winners include Marita Fraser, Dexter Dalwood, Cooking Sections, and others from around the world.
