Casa Testori's 'NEVEr alone' Explores Snow as Cultural and Political Lens Ahead of Milan-Cortina 2026

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Casa Testori in Novate Milanese has launched 'NEVEr alone', a multidisciplinary project curated by Davide Dall’Ombra that reexamines the cultural, poetic, and political dimensions of snow, forty years after Giovanni Testori's 1985 editorial 'Benedetta tu, sorella neve' on the Corriere della Sera, which described a record snowfall that paralyzed Milan. The project, running until March 28, 2026, coincides with preparations for the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. It includes a group exhibition curated by Giacomo Pigliapoco featuring twelve young artists—Luca Campestri, Silvia Capuzzo, Sara Cortesi, Stefano De Paolis, Chiara Gambirasio, Nicola Ghirardelli, Gaia Ginevra Giorgi, Arianna Marcolin, Martina Rota, Bianca Sophia Schröder, Sofie Tobiášová, and Lei Lei Wu—whose works engage with snow as mental and emotional matter, responding to the architecture of Casa Testori. The first floor reconstructs the 1985 snowfall as a collective experience through Testori's article, unpublished slides by Mario De Biasi, RAI footage, archival materials, and music by Bluvertigo. Two project rooms complement the exhibition: 'melatonina', curated by Greta Martina, features an installation and performance by Elena Francalanci inspired by Nordic fairy tales; 'La Via dei Laghi', curated by Rosita Ronzini, addresses glacier melt with an interactive work by Simone Scardino involving children. The project also includes a public program on climate change and workshops.
