Casa Playfair: A Tailored Beach Retreat by 43 North Architecture
Completed in 2024, Casa Playfair is a residential project by 43 north architecture, curated by Miwa Negoro and built by MJK Building. Located in Curl Curl, Australia, the house was designed for adventurous clients—former Australian MTB champions and nature lovers—who downsized from a five-bedroom suburban home to an undeveloped beachside plot. The architects prioritized a design that reflects the clients' personalities and love for the outdoors, working within a strict budget to enable future adventures. The project emphasizes sustainability and a minimalist aesthetic, with architecture that communicates its principles visually. Photographs by Simon Whitebread document the result.
