Casa Pinhal: A Brazilian Holiday House Raised on Stilts Among Trees
Brazilian studio Cornetta Arquitetura has completed Casa Pinhal, a nearly 700 sq m holiday home in the Mantiqueira Mountains designed for a couple and their extended family. The architects raised the dwelling on stilts and organized it in two stacked, vertical wings united like a bridge, creating a viewing platform that gives guests the impression of walking among trees. The three-level structure places the garage, TV room, and guest suite on the lower floor; living spaces, a home gym, and the primary bedroom suite on the piano nobile middle level; and additional bedrooms and a home office on the top floor. Sustainable strategies include an engineered timber frame, passive thermal comfort, and materials such as wood, local moledo stone, and concrete. A large belvedere terrace offers panoramic views of the forested site.
