Casa Museo Bellonci Opens in Rome for Maria Bellonci's 120th Birthday

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

In the Parioli district of Rome, the Casa Museo has been launched by the Fondazione Maria e Goffredo Bellonci, coinciding with the 120th anniversary of Maria Bellonci's birth. The Belloncis, who were industrialists in the mid-20th century, created a cultural legacy within their residence, which includes an extensive art collection and over 24,000 books. Since 1944, the location has been a gathering place for artists and writers. Their association with entrepreneur Guido Alberti was instrumental in establishing the Premio Strega in 1947. The foundation provides guided tours for both adults and children to delve into the Belloncis' legacy. This project is part of "Scegli il Contemporaneo. Ti racconto Roma," overseen by Elena Lydia Scipioni since 2017, showcasing contemporary art in Rome. The museum displays historical books and works by De Pisis, Morandi, and Capogrossi.
