Casa Mezcal: Barde + vanVoltt Transforms Mezcal Tasting Room into Family Residence

In the heart of La Condesa, Mexico City, Casa Mezcal is a 400 m² renovation project by architecture firm Barde + vanVoltt, transforming a former mezcal tasting room into a contemporary family residence. The project, completed in 2023, pays homage to Mexican architecture, craftsmanship, and nature. Curated by Nina Vuga, the design team includes Bart Jan van Seggelen, Valerie Boerma, and Ivo Klaver, with CF Taller as the architectural office and Aldaba Jardines handling landscape design. Photographs by Alejandro Ramirez Orozco document the interior design and renovation. The project features products from suppliers such as Agape Bathrooms, In Light We Trust, Nuumbra, Studio davidpompa, Tata Mosaicos, and Txt.ure. The residence integrates modern living with traditional Mexican elements, reflecting a cultural appreciation within a contemporary context.
