Casa Leopardi opens its library to contemporary art with group show 'Io nel pensier mi fingo'

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Casa Leopardi, the historic home of poet Giacomo Leopardi in Recanati, Italy, is kicking off its first contemporary art exhibition. Titled 'Io nel pensier mi fingo,' after Leopardi's poem 'L'infinito' from 1819, this group show will run from October 16, 2022, to January 30, 2023. It serves as the launch of the InterValli contemporary art series, part of the bicentennial celebrations for 'L'infinito' that began in 2019. Curated by Antonello Tolve and spearheaded by Olimpia Leopardi, the exhibition features pieces from eight artists born between the 1930s and 1990s. Held in the Biblioteca Leopardi, open to the public since 1812, Olimpia sees it as a fusion of literature and visual art, supported by the National Committee for the Bicentennial Celebrations.
