Casa Italia 2026: A Diffuse Museum for Milan Cortina Olympics
For the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, Casa Italia will operate as a diffuse museum across three venues: Milan, Livigno, and Cortina d'Ampezzo. From February 6 to 22, 2026, the project shifts from hospitality to a cultural platform under the theme 'Musa,' exploring Italy's stratifications, attractions, and contradictions. At Triennale Milano, nine sections inspired by nine muses cover language, innovation, landscape, and sport, each paired with an iconic Olympic object. In Cortina, the Galleria Farsettiarte—a converted funivia station—hosts a contemplative dialogue between historical and contemporary works. Livigno serves as a hub for events, music, and post-race celebrations. Architecturally, the venues use reflective aluminum exteriors and wood interiors, referencing mountain bivouacs and ski infrastructure. Italian design features furnishings by historic masters and contemporary designers. Culinary programming includes chef Davide Oldani at Triennale Milano, Graziano Prest and Fabio Pompanin in Cortina, and local chefs in Livigno, emphasizing regional ingredients and conviviality.
