Casa Futura Pietra #2: Art in the Hypogea of Siponto

The second edition of Casa Futura Pietra, curated by Giusy Caroppo, activates the Ipogei Capparelli near the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Siponto, within the Parco Nazionale del Gargano. The project aims to create a diffused temporary contemporary art museum across Puglia. Each hypogeum hosts a single artist. Anne and Patrick Poirier (both born 1942) present a kaleidoscopic installation of cardinal virtues and vital concepts, evoking a magical temple. Daniela Corbascio's neon sign points to past places from the present. Francesco Giannico's Archivio Italiano Paesaggi Sonori transforms ambient sounds into music. Jason Middlebrook creates colorful, lysergic forms resembling crystallized water. Andrea Aquilanti uses video projections to disorient visitors with their own shadows. Agnese Purgatorio presents a video series on the Armenian genocide. Igor Imhoff animates the basilica. Francesco Schiavulli's Sacra Famiglia depicts migrants from different lands who have arrived in Puglia, their faces full of trust. The exhibition runs until January 8, 2016.
