Casa en Kirigamine: A Mountain Refuge by imajo design
Casa en Kirigamine is a contemporary mountain refuge designed by imajo design, located at an altitude of over 1,600 meters in Nagano, Japan. The 85 m² house, completed in 2025, withstands extreme winter temperatures as low as -20°C while offering views of the Kirigamine wetland to the north and Mount Fuji and the Yatsugatake mountain range to the south. The project team includes architects Toshiaki Imajo and Yukiko Imajo, structural engineering by Baba Structural Design Office, and contractor Suwatec Co., Ltd. The house was curated by Miwa Negoro and photographed by Akinobu Kawabe, with windows supplied by PROFILE WINDOWS.
