Casa en el Bosque: A Family Refuge Integrated into the Mexican Forest

Casa en el Bosque, located in San Simón el Alto, Mexico, was crafted by Vasconcelos Arquitectura and Espacio Tangible, maintaining the surrounding forest on a 10,000 m² plot with trees reaching 30 meters. The design preserves existing flora while introducing 12 new species. For privacy, the residence is discreetly situated, comprising two sections for communal and private use linked by a clear corridor. Each space is designed with windows that highlight the natural surroundings. The construction utilizes materials such as Mexican wood, concrete, stone, and steel, with a southwest orientation to optimize light. A covered terrace enhances the living area, and 90% of the furnishings are locally made. This project is highlighted in the 89th edition of Glocal Design Magazine, titled 'Visionarias del espacio,' which celebrates female architects and designers.
