Casa EA: A Family Home on a Cliff Edge by Bokey Grant

Casa EA, designed by Bokey Grant, is a family residence perched on a rocky cliff in the southern highlands. The project, covering 170 square meters, is slated for completion in 2026. The house is a simple, elemental gesture that addresses the emotional and practical challenges of a difficult, singular site. The plot was a remnant of a suburb planned before the discovery of a massive gorge and cliff, deemed unbuildable and left vacant. The design resolves multiple overlapping constraints imposed by the terrain. The project team includes structural and civil engineer Structure Consulting Engineers, and contractor Armstrong Residential & Owner. Photographs are by Clinton Weaver.
