Casa Depero in Rovereto Hosts Body-Centric Exhibition from Futurism to Performance Art

Casa Depero in Rovereto, Italy, opens all its floors for the first time to host a new exhibition exploring the body in action from Futurism to contemporary performance art. Curated by Nicoletta Boschiero, the show centers on the body as energy that triggers change, bridging historical avant-gardes and Performance Art through their subversive charge and metamorphic force. The exhibition includes a historic 1973 show 'Bodies' from Centro Tool in Milan, featuring body fragments sent by artists at Ugo Carrega's invitation. Key video works by Vito Acconci, Yoko Ono, and Sarenco form the core, with Ono's 'Cut Piece' reflecting on audience relations, Acconci's 'Applications' exploring dual gender roles, and Sarenco's political actions using inflatable plastic segments. The show also presents artists like Kesting, Giannina Censi, Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer, Ketty La Rocca, Cavellini, and Carrega, with works and documents spanning from Futurist aerodances to Viennese Actionism and visual poetry. Casa Depero transforms into an artistic workshop, moving away from a museum dimension as the Futurists would have liked.
