Casa Daros Cultural Centre in Rio de Janeiro Announces December 2015 Closure
Casa Daros, a cultural center in Rio de Janeiro's Botafogo neighborhood, will cease operations in December 2015. The closure comes less than three years after the institution first opened its doors. Owned by Ruth Schmidheiny through the Swiss-based Daros Latinamerica collection, the center was established to showcase contemporary Latin American art. Schmidheiny indicated that the Casa Daros facility would be repurposed for different uses. The organization plans to shift its public programming toward a more globally oriented approach. The Rio Times first reported this development in May 2015.
