Casa Dante Opens in Ravenna Completing Dante Museum Complex
On September 19, 2021, Ravenna will unveil Casa Dante, a new venue honoring Dante Alighieri, which marks the completion of the broader Dante Museum initiative that commenced in May 2021 with the Museo Dante. Curated by Biblioteca Classense and Gallerie degli Uffizi, Casa Dante offers versatile spaces, such as a bookshop and an educational lab. Situated on Via Dante Alighieri, close to Dante's tomb, the museum consists of nine rooms filled with historical artifacts and texts originally curated for the Museo Dantesco in 1921. Additionally, Casa Dante showcases exhibition areas featuring artworks from the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Palazzo Pitti and Biblioteca Classense. Plans for the future include a design exhibition space in collaboration with the Adi Design Museum, commemorating the 700th anniversary of Dante's passing.
