Casa Cafausica: Summer Residencies in Salento for Artists

Fondazione Lac o Le Mon, launched by artists Emilio Fantin, Luigi Negro, Giancarlo Norese, Cesare Pietroiusti, and Luigi Presicce, is hosting its second year of artist residencies at Casa Cafausica in San Cesario di Lecce, Italy. The foundation offers a rustic early 20th-century farmhouse surrounded by a two-hectare park with tall trees, olive groves, a fruit orchard, and a citrus garden. The residency emphasizes self-sustainability, zero-waste recycling, and harmony between humans and nature. Guests are expected to adhere to eco-friendly practices, with shared kitchen and basic amenities. A daily contribution of €15 covers food and utilities. The program runs from June to September 2017, featuring workshops and seminars on topics like reinvented craftsmanship (June 2-6), the body in anthropology and dance (June 21-29), organic life observation (July 24-30), aesthetics of the imperceptible (August 4-6), stellar observation (August 16-22), and Dionysus (September 2-9). The foundation welcomes artists, curators, and anyone working in creative fields.
