Casa Batlló Opens Gaudí's Hidden Third Floor After €4M Restoration
After a three-year renovation exceeding €4 million ($4.5 million), Casa Batlló in Barcelona has unveiled its previously private Third Floor residence. This apartment, which served as a personal home for over a century, represents the last original living space crafted by Antoni Gaudí. The last occupant, Mercedes Arbiol Muntané, died in 2019. The restoration, led by architect Xavier Villanueva, revealed original floral stuccoes, wavy ceilings, and an undocumented door handle. Contemporary interiors were designed by Italian designer Paola Navone and OTTO Studio, featuring custom lighting, hand-knotted rugs, and sculptural furniture. The 440-square-meter space is now available for private events, meetings, and dining experiences.
