Casa Akíga by Studio Saxe: A Gradual Discovery in Costa Rica

Casa Akíga, a residential project by Studio Saxe, is located on a sloping site that descends towards a ravine with ocean views in Costa Rica. The house is designed to be experienced as a gradual discovery, remaining partially hidden and integrated into the terrain, contained by the landscape. From the street, only fragments are visible, allowing the natural environment to take prominence. The project, completed in 2025, covers an area of 1347 square meters and was directed by Benjamin Saxe. The landscape architecture was also handled by Studio Saxe, with construction by Frame Construction and structural engineering by Sotela Alfaro Ltda. The project is categorized under residential architecture, houses, and sustainability. Photographs were taken by Thibault Cartier. The design emphasizes a harmonious relationship with the natural surroundings, a hallmark of Studio Saxe's approach.
