Cartier’s Islamic Art Influence Explored in Louvre Abu Dhabi Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-22

From 16 November 2023 to 24 March 2024, the Louvre Abu Dhabi will host 'Cartier, Islamic Inspiration and Modern Design.' This exhibition, opened by H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, explores the influence of Islamic art on Cartier’s creations from the early 20th century to the present. Co-organized with Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Musée du Louvre, and France Muséums, and supported by Maison Cartier, it showcases over 400 items, including jewellery, textiles, and archival pieces from various institutions. Curated by Judith Henon-Raynaud and Évelyne Possémé, along with Fakhera Alkindi, the exhibit builds on the previous 'Cartier and Islamic Art: In Search of Modernity' project. Highlights include an immersive digital installation by Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
