Carrozzeria delle Rose Opens New Turin Space During Art Week

Carrozzeria delle Rose, founded in 2021 by artist Miriam Montani (Cascia, 1986) as a studio and research space in Milan's Porto di Mare district, has expanded to Turin. The original venue, a former workshop transformed into an exhibition space amid car washes and body shops, previously hosted the group show "Cambio lavoro" curated by Valentina Avanzini with five emerging artists. Now, during Turin's Art Week, a new location opens in Borgo Vittoria, a working-class neighborhood in the city historically tied to the automotive industry. The inaugural exhibition, "In Fiamme," features works by Montani and Raffaele Cirianni (Turin, 1994). Performative actions and installations explore the dual meaning of fire as a vital, evocative element and a symbol of environmental and social crisis. Montani presents "Linea di Fuoco," an installation investigating fire as a primordial, life-giving force. Cirianni's "Trace a line when reality becomes intolerable" invites viewers to question the thin line between tranquility and chaos. Montani describes her practice of piercing paper to create images and find an abyss, symbolically blinding herself to see. The exhibition runs from November 1 to 12, 2023, at Via Fontanella 5, Turin.
