Carrara Offers Two Artist Residencies at CAP Centro Arti Plastiche

The Municipality of Carrara has announced a call for visual arts professionals to participate in two artist residencies at the CAP – Centro Arti Plastiche, running from December 18, 2017, to March 2, 2018, and March 10 to May 23, 2018. The program focuses on the recovery, study, enhancement, and dissemination of local historical archives through contemporary art. Selected artists will spend the first four weeks researching archival materials, followed by six weeks dedicated to exhibitions, meetings, and workshops. The municipality provides workspace on the second floor of CAP and a total gross budget of €20,000 for both projects. The call is open to professors, curators, artists, and cultural associations, who must propose a residency project centered on one of Carrara's historical archives (excluding the Marmifera archive, which will be addressed separately next summer). Proposals must be submitted by November 24, 2017, at 12:00 PM via the municipality's protocol office or certified email. The initiative is part of a broader cultural strategy: upcoming calls will target performing arts (music, theater, dance, cinema) for projects between December 10, 2017, and May 10, 2018, and a separate notice will seek operators for the CAP's service areas (café, bookshop, educational spaces) to enhance museum vitality and visitor services.
