Carrara Marble Weeks 2017 Opens with Canova Exhibition
From July 7 to September 2017, the Carrara Marble Weeks festival makes its return to Carrara, honoring the city's marble legacy. Among the highlights are two primary exhibitions: 'Le immagini reinventate' at CAP-Centro Arti Plastiche, overseen by curator Lucilla Meloni, featuring 14 global artists such as Stefano Arienti and Vik Muniz, who offer new interpretations of historical and media images. The second exhibition, 'Estetiche dell’Antropocene,' at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, curated by Gaia Bindi, delves into Piero Gilardi's investigation of the relationship between humans and nature. Furthermore, Palazzo Cucchiari showcases 'Dopo Canova. Percorsi della scultura a Firenze e a Roma,' curated by Sergej Androsov, Massimo Bertozzi, and Ettore Spalletti, which explores Antonio Canova's impact on 19th-century sculpture.
