Carpenter's Home Revives Rural Craft in Hao Tang Village

In Hao Tang Village, China, Primary Architects have finalized Carpenter's Home, a 405 m² community center and workshop, as part of the 'Eight Artisans' project. Completed in 2025, this initiative revitalizes old homes and establishes new areas for unique workshops, reintegrating rural crafts into everyday life. The center will host craft exhibitions, cultural tourism sales, and educational tours, while also investigating sustainable income opportunities for the community. The design team, led by architects Xiang Huang and Songyan Mao, included Cong Liu, Zhiyan Lin, Xiaoxia Wang, Junjie Liu, Xiaofeng Zhang, and Yao Lu. The project was commissioned by Xinyang Pingqiao District Juxing Agricultural Investment and Development Co., Ltd., with photography by DONG Image.
