Carolyne Loreé Teston: Photography, Performance, and the PRISM Workshop

Photographer and artist Carolyne Loreé Teston, based in Brooklyn, New York, explores the dynamics of seeing and being seen through her work. Originally from Georgia, she moved to New York in 2012 and has built a career blending commercial photography and conceptual art. Teston earned an MFA in photography from Bard in 2025 and currently teaches a photography workshop in NYC. She founded PRISM, a six-week analog portrait workshop that examines performance for the camera and draws on art history. Teston recently presented 'Emulsion to Emulsion' at Clubland Counterfeit, a shipping container gallery that functioned as a life-size pinhole camera. She is now in residency at Gowanus Darkroom, creating lumen prints under melting ice. Teston cites Roland Barthes' 'Camera Lucida' as a key influence.
