Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev to Lead Merged Castello di Rivoli and GAM
Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev will assume the role of director for both the Galleria d’Arte Moderno (GAM) and the Castello di Rivoli in Turin starting January 1, 2016, effectively consolidating the two institutions. This appointment follows her successful curation of the Istanbul Biennale held from September 5 to November 1, 2015. Christov-Bakargiev, who holds American and Italian citizenship, previously served as chief curator at the Castello di Rivoli from 2002 to 2008 and had a stint as interim director in 2009. Additionally, she held significant roles at MoMA PS1 and was the artistic leader for the 16th Sydney Biennale and Documenta 13.
