Carole Feuerman's 'My Stories' Opens at Chiesa della Pietà in Venice
American hyperrealist sculptor Carole Feuerman (born 1945, Hartford) recounts her solo exhibition 'My Stories' at the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pietà in Venice, open from April 22 to November 27. The show, curated by Carlotta Scarpa and Paolo De Grandis, presents a synthesis of her life experiences through figurative sculptures of swimmers. Notable works include 'Perseverance', a six-meter bronze piece installed inside the church, and 'Survival of Serenissima' placed on the Canal Grande. Two monumental sculptures, 'Serenity' and 'Justice', are displayed outside the Paradiso Gallery at the Giardini, opposite the Biennale entrance. Feuerman discusses her shift from painting to sculpture in her early twenties, her focus on hyperrealism, and her foundation established in 2011 to support underrepresented artists. She expresses concerns about the current historical period, referencing the empty Ukrainian and Russian pavilions at the Biennale and the return of clear water in the Canal Grande. The exhibition also features her autobiography, with an Italian translation in progress. Feuerman thanks Bel-Air Fine Art, founder François Chabanian, and the Art'ù foundry in Florence for their support.
