Carol Rama's Home-Studio Recreated in Verona Exhibition
Studio la Città in Verona has recreated the home-studio of Carol Rama (Turin, 1918-2015) for a new exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Fondazione Sardi per l’Arte. The show spans Rama’s entire career, from erotic watercolors and drawings to works from the 1960s and 1970s, including pieces with small glass eyes. Marco Meneguzzo wrote the catalog introduction, noting that Rama’s work transcends any single movement, including Arte Povera, with which she was loosely associated. Her art is characterized by a strong sensuality and sexuality, emerging from personal tragedy as a form of healing. The exhibition coincides with Rama’s inclusion in the Central Pavilion of the 2022 Venice Biennale, curated by Cecilia Alemani, alongside surrealists like Leonora Carrington and Leonor Fini.
