Carol Bove's Guggenheim Survey Reimagines Frank Lloyd Wright's Iconic Rotunda

exhibition · 2026-04-19

From March 5 to August 5, 2026, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York will host Carol Bove's inaugural survey exhibition. The artist, originally from Switzerland, transforms Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic spiral rotunda through a collection of installations, paintings, and works on paper that span over 25 years. This exhibition introduces two new series: large-scale steel "collage sculptures" and aluminum panels mounted on walls. Displayed in reverse chronological order, it showcases recent sculptures alongside pieces from the early 2000s. Notably, six polished aluminum disks, designed for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's facade in 2021, ascend within the rotunda. Bove also features works by Bruce Conner, Agnes Martin, and Édouard Vuillard, as well as a mural by Joan Miró and Josep Llorens Artigas.
