Carme Pinós designs 2018 MPavilion in Melbourne's Queen Victoria Gardens

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

Images of the 2018 MPavilion, crafted by Spanish architect Carme Pinós, have been unveiled by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation. Set to be located in Melbourne's Queen Victoria Gardens, the pavilion will be open from October 8, 2018, until February 3, 2019. This marks the fifth iteration of the MPavilion, following the works of architects such as Seán Godsell and Rem Koolhaas. Pinós's creation boasts an open wooden structure reminiscent of origami, topped with a polycarbonate roof. Over 400 free events, including workshops and performances, will take place there. The City of Melbourne and the Government of Victoria back the MPavilion. Pinós is also scheduled to participate in the Living Cities Forum 2018 on July 26.
