Carlos Motta and Nástio Mosquito Win 2014 Future Generation Art Prize

Carlos Motta from Colombia and Nástio Mosquito from Angola have been named joint recipients of the 2014 Future Generation Art Prize. The $100,000 award, established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, recognizes emerging artists under 35 years old. A $60,000 cash portion and $40,000 for new work production will be shared by the winners. Their selection was announced at a ceremony held at the Pinchuk Art Centre in Kiev, Ukraine. Both artists are scheduled to mount solo exhibitions at the same venue during autumn 2015. The international jury included curator Francesco Bonami, artists Jan Fabre and Doris Salcedo, Eckhard Schneider of the PinchukArtCentre, independent curator Bisi Silva from the Centre for Contemporary Art in Lagos, Adam Szymczyk who serves as artistic director for documenta 14, and Philip Tinari, director of Beijing's Ullens Center for Contemporary Art.
