Carlos Motta and Eddie Peake Perform at Tenuta dello Scompiglio

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

Two notable performances from the Sui Generis series took place at Tenuta dello Scompiglio in Lucca, directed by Eugenio Viola and Angel Moya Garcia. The series centers around themes of identity and gender. Carlos Motta's 'Requiem' featured singer Ernesto Tomasini in the estate chapel, singing Gabriel Fauré's 'Libera Me' with an extensive vocal range. Following this, 'Mondo invertito' presented Motta suspended and bound using Shibari techniques, inspired by Caravaggio's artwork, accompanied by a fresco from the 17th century. Eddie Peake’s provocative piece included three nude dancers engaging in simulated sexual acts, probing societal and gender identity issues.
