CARLOCINQUE Gallery Opens Virtual Reality Archive in Milan

digital · 2026-04-27

CARLOCINQUE Gallery in Milan has launched CARLOCINQUE Virtual Gallery, a digital archive of its exhibition projects, in collaboration with Turin-based startup Pelliken. The virtual space currently features two recent shows: 'Mirabili Tracce' by Bertozzi&Casoni, internationally renowned ceramic artists, and 'Myoptiks' by Peter Campus, a pioneering American video artist from the early 1970s. Pelliken, founded in 2020 by Francesco Pelle and Emile Jellinek, created 3D scans of the artworks using photogrammetry and laser scanning, then built the virtual environment. Visitors can access the 3D gallery for free via a dedicated iOS and Android app, using mobile devices, computers, or VR headsets. At the physical gallery, augmented reality overlays artworks onto the real space when users point their camera. The initiative aims to provide dynamic, interactive access for art enthusiasts, specialists, tech lovers, and those unable to visit in person. For the launch, Peter Campus's 'Myoptiks' exhibition has been extended until January 27, 2023. The project also included scanning 18 works from 'Mirabili Tracce', creating 3D models, post-production, and developing virtual animations displayed in the gallery and on social media. Each artwork received a digital passport notarized on the Bitcoin blockchain for authenticity certification.
