Carlo Valsecchi's Photographic Installation at Platea in Lodi
In 2021, the former porter's lodge of the 17th-century Palazzo Galeano in Lodi was transformed into Platea, a contemporary art venue open 24 hours. After showcasing emerging artists successfully, Platea is now highlighting a project focused on the landscape and identity of Lodi. The latest installation features Caseus #01215, a photographic series by Carlo Valsecchi (born Brescia, 1965), curated by Gaspare Luigi Marcone. This work is part of a project for the Lodi-based dairy company Ferrari Giovanni Industria Casearia, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary. The accompanying photobook, Ferrari Giovanni Industria Casearia 200 anni, was released in May 2023 by Dario Cimorelli. Valsecchi's exploration of 'caseus' (cheese) delves into themes of chaos and home, complemented by a sound intervention from Mosta Parsakia (born Arak, 1987).
