Carlo Scarpa Exhibition at Gypsotheca di Possagno Explores His Artistic Influences
The Museo Gypsotheca di Possagno hosts a major exhibition dedicated to Italian architect Carlo Scarpa, curated by director Moira Mascotto. The show is divided into three sections: 'Gli artisti' (The Artists), focusing on works that influenced Scarpa through the Venice Biennale, including pieces by Arturo Martini, Alberto Viani, Giorgio Morandi, Paul Klee, Osvaldo Licini, Tancredi, Filippo de Pisis, and Gustav Klimt; 'I vetri' (The Glassworks), featuring about twenty glass objects from Scarpa's collaborations with M.V.M. Cappellin (1926–31) and Paolo Venini (1932–47), highlighting geometric forms and influences from Braque, Picasso, Klee, and Mondrian; and 'La Biennale' (The Biennale), presenting previously unpublished drawings from 1968 for expanding the Italian Pavilion and exploring Scarpa's exhibition design from 1932 onward, including his mosaic 'Il bagno' with Mario Deluigi and his engagement with Spazialismo, Arte Povera, Pop Art, and Kinetic Art. All works on display come from the collection of Luciano Gemin.
