Carlo Orsi's Milan: A Photographic Retrospective at Palazzo Morando
Palazzo Morando in Milan is hosting 'Miracolia Milano', a retrospective of photographer Carlo Orsi (1941-2021), who documented Milan's post-war rebirth and its people. The exhibition features 140 prints from Orsi's archive, divided into four sections: Milan, fashion and advertising, portraits, and reportage. Born in Brera in 1941, Orsi began as a crime reporter for Corriere della Sera, later became an assistant to Ugo Mulas, and worked with Leica cameras. He captured iconic Milanese scenes: the Velodromo Vigorelli, Piazza del Duomo shrouded in fog, workers with their 'schiscetta' lunchboxes, and the 'ghisa' traffic police. His fashion and advertising clients included OMSA, Swatch, Cassina, La Perla, Ducati, and Philip Morris. Orsi also traveled to China, Bangladesh, Tibet, Uganda, and Bolivia for reportages, and documented the fall of the Berlin Wall. He founded the magazine 'Città' in 1997, published until 2003 and revived after 2019. His first photobook (1965) featured texts by Dino Buzzati; a second (2015) by Aldo Nove. The exhibition runs until an unspecified date, curated by Emma Sedini.
