Carlo Lucarelli hosts Sky Arte series on historical 'outsiders'

Carlo Lucarelli hosts 'La nave dei folli – Oltre la ragione', a six-episode series debuting on Sky Arte on January 20, 2025. The first two episodes focus on Emperor Nero and sculptor Camille Claudel, exploring whether historical figures labeled as eccentric or mad were actually ahead of their time or suffered from unrecognized conditions. The series mixes historical reconstructions, digital illustrations, and analog projections, with contributions from experts including psychotherapist Michele Mezzanotte, lawyer and activist Cathy La Torre, medical historian Paolo Mazzarello, psychologist Francesca Cavallini, and psychiatrist Gaspare Palmieri. The show aims to spark reflection on neurodiversity and prejudice. Nero is reexamined as not responsible for the Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD, while Claudel, who died in 1943, was interned as a manic depressive after her relationship with Auguste Rodin.
