Carlo e Fabio Ingrassia: gemelli siciliani tra Etna e Quadriennale
In a phone interview with Artribune Podcast, Sicilian twins Carlo and Fabio Ingrassia discuss their artistic partnership, which began in 2008. They create on a smaller scale, drawing inspiration from the natural forces of Mount Etna, which they characterize as a dialectically active principle of both creation and destruction. Their work, 'Astrazione Novecentista' (pastel, 8x8 cm, 2009), is currently on display at Palazzo Braschi in Rome as part of the Quadriennale di Roma, running until May 7. This exhibition stems from Michelangelo Pistoletto's essay 'L'arte radicale di Carlo e Fabio Ingrassia,' linking their art to the poverista movement. The piece features partially covered windows adorned with red ivy leaves in an empty space that encourages contemplation. The artists express, "We view the work as a process of expansion" and "the proper and orderly construction of a painting is achieved by reducing the problem to a matter of quantity."
