Carla Sozzani's Photography Collection at Helmut Newton Foundation

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin is presenting 'Between Art & Fashion', an exhibition of 200 photographs from the collection of Carla Sozzani. Sozzani, former editor-in-chief of Italian Elle and Vogue, gallerist, and founder of 10 Corso Como, began collecting works by major contemporary photographers in the 1990s. Her collection includes nearly 1,000 works by artists such as Annie Leibovitz, Sarah Moon, Paolo Roversi, David Bailey, Hiro, and David LaChapelle. The exhibition, which runs from June 2 to November 18, features not only fashion images but also experimental works by Berenice Abbott, Duane Michals, Francesca Woodman, Daido Moriyama, Man Ray, and William Klein. Additionally, over 40 unpublished portraits by June Newton, also known as Alice Springs, who turns 95 this year, are on display. This marks the first time Sozzani's collection is shown in Germany, following exhibitions in Paris and Switzerland.
