Carla Accardi Record at Dorotheum Vienna Contemporary Week

At Dorotheum's Contemporary Week in Vienna on May 19-20, 2026, Italian artists achieved strong results. Carla Accardi's 1986 triptych 'Fonda Notte Pieno Giorno' sold for €520,000 (including fees), setting a new auction record for the artist. Other Italian highlights: Piero Dorazio's 'Ornato Bianco' (1984) reached €260,000 (estimate €60,000); Emilio Vedova's 'Emerging '83 (A Bruno Taut)' (1983) sold above estimate; works by Lucio Fontana, Mario Schifano, Ettore Spalletti, Giuseppe Uncini, and Gastone Novelli each exceeded €100,000. Czech artist Mikuláš Medek achieved €884,000 aggregate for two works, with 'Too Deep a Sleep V' (1966) being the top lot of the contemporary session at €546,000.
