Careof's 'Les grasses matinées' Film Series at Milan Art Week

During Milan Art Week 2022, Careof, a non-profit organization for contemporary artistic research, presented 'Les grasses matinées,' a curated film series by Marta Cereda exploring idleness, time, and the positive value of otium. From March 31 to April 3, 2022, from 9:30 to 12:30, over 50 artists including Yuri Ancarani, Chiara Fumai, Marcello Maloberti, Sophie Usunier, and Franco Vaccari were featured in video screenings from Careof's archive of over 9,000 titles. The installation by Finemateria contrasted the rigid industrial space with soft materials like cushions, and a soundtrack was provided by Orchestra Futuro. Founded in 1987 by Mario Gorni and Zefferina Castoldi in Cusano Milanino, later moving to Milan, Careof holds an archive of 30,000 cataloged volumes and over 9,000 artist videos. In 2016, the archive risked dispersal due to non-renewal of space at Fabbrica del Vapore, but was reconfirmed the following year via a municipal tender. The project celebrated Careof's 35 years of creative activity.
