Caravaggio, Van Dyck, Sassolino: Three Masterpieces on Time at Vicenza's Basilica Palladiana

The Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza presents 'Caravaggio, Van Dyck, Sassolino. Tre capolavori a Vicenza', an exhibition exploring the concept of time through three masterpieces from different eras. Curated by Guido Beltramini and Francesca Cappelletti, the show is organized by the Comune di Vicenza with Intesa Sanpaolo. The works include Caravaggio's 'San Girolamo' (1606, from Galleria Borghese, Rome), Antoon Van Dyck's 'Le quattro età dell’uomo' (1625-1627, from Musei Civici di Vicenza), and Arcangelo Sassolino's contemporary 'No Memory Without Loss' (a large red disk over three meters in diameter). The exhibition runs until February 4, 2024, in the main hall of the Basilica, which features a magnificent inverted-keel wooden ceiling. Free admission is offered to Vicenza residents and Italian primary and secondary schools; non-residents pay €5, which also grants reduced entry to Gallerie d’Italia – Vicenza for the exhibition 'Le Trecce di Faustina. Acconciature, donne e potere nel Rinascimento'. A rich cultural program accompanies the show, as stated by Vicenza's mayor Giacomo Possamai.
