Capri Photography Festival Launches Three-Year Collecting Focus
The ninth edition of the Capri Photography Festival, organized by the Fondazione Capri at the Certosa di San Giacomo, shifts from its usual single-monograph format to a three-year program centered on collecting. Curator Denis Curti explains that the foundation acquired works from past editions, creating a photographic heritage tied to the Campania region, prompting a reflection on collecting. The first exhibition, "Capri: un’isola per la fotografia. La Collezione ideale," runs until July 23 and features over 50 photographs, including works by Mimmo Jodice and Maurizio Galimberti from artist residencies now in the foundation's collection. The second exhibition will showcase works from Neapolitan private collectors, and the third will survey public and private photo archives of Campanian institutions, companies, and foundations, aligning with the Mibact's census of Italian photographic archives. The festival includes talks with photography figures.
