Capitalism Is Over: A Farewell Party at Milan Design Week
The Raumplan collective—architects, designers, and a philosopher—presented "Capitalism is over. A farewell party" at Cascina Cuccagna during Milan's Fuorisalone. The exhibition juxtaposes iconic industrial products from capitalism's golden age with contemporary objects shaped by new economic models. It features three sections: "But it used to be so cool" displays Olivetti classics like the Lettera 22, Divisumma, and Valentine, photographed by Louis De Belle at Olivetti's historic archive; "Bigger Faster Cheaper" shows Amazon and Ikea logistics centers photographed by Delfino Sisto Legnani, highlighting the shift from authorship to distribution speed; "New times New rules" explores alternative models like self-production. The show critiques the crisis of traditional capitalism and the rise of new technologies and business paradigms.
