Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino Releases New Album with Art Collective Casa a Mare

The Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino (CGS), a leading world music group from Salento, released their new album 'Canzoniere' on October 27, 2017. The album features a cover artwork by the artistic collective Casa a Mare, founded in 2014 by Luca Coclite and Giuseppe de Mattia in collaboration with Claudio Musso. This marks the first collaboration with visual artists for the group in over thirty years. The artwork, titled 'Coca-Cola, 2015,' references Andy Warhol's iconic cover for The Velvet Underground & Nico, created fifty years earlier. The album was produced between Lecce and New York, as noted by leader Mauro Durante. The collective also created a booklet and animated GIFs for social media, using the metaphor of homemade tomato sauce to narrate the band's fusion of tradition and modernity.
